Description:
The turkey vulture has a naked red head and this lack of feathers reduces the risk of picking up diseases from carcasses. Has weak feet more suited to walking then grasping. Has developed a sense of smell. Mostly mute, making only grunts and groans.
Habitat:
This turkey vulture was sitting on a fence in a cow field at Kinder Farm Park in Millersville, Maryland.
