Superb Fairywren (Malurus cyaneus subspecies cyaneus), male in breeding plumage.

Habitat:

Back porch rail of a rural home in dry sclerophyll bushland.

Beautiful colors! I'd love to have these in my yard rather than the common sparrows.
Beautiful bird and colours.
These jaunty little birds are the most common critters in my yard (after the introduced house sparrows). They're frenetic, noisy (and, apparently the most promiscuous species of bird) and always hopping about the place. The babies are too, too cute.
