Field Notes

Description:

Black head and neck, brown body, white "chinstrap". Primarily herbivores, though they sometimes eat small insects and fish. Their diet includes a variety of grains and grasses. Canada geese are monogamous, and mate for life. Frequently exhibit aggressive behavior. Female is slightly lighter colored.

Habitat:

Native to North America. Breeds in a variety of locations, with a large population in the Great Lakes region. Commonly found around bodies of water, both natural and man made. Migratory
