Description:

The extremely invasive Gypsy Moth Caterpillar is characterized by a mottled white and black body with six pairs of red warts and 5 pairs of blue warts, although the 5th pair of blue warts is typically hard to see as it is near the "head."

Habitat:

Found munching on our apple tree.

Keith, I think they might have different broods, and yours might have been an early summer brood while mine was a midsummer brood.
Funny, I added gypsy moth spotting but it was end of June start of July wonder why by you they are behind in growth? Usually they eat Oak so mabye on apple growth isn't as fast
