Field Notes

Description:

Conspicuous bird size of a hen. Body is black, contrasting nicely with bronze-coloured wing-covers. Long and elegant neck, two white eye stripes ending on nape, yellow bill red at the base and a grey-black shield. Long wader's legs with very long toes.

Habitat:

Here, observed in totally urban setting of Cox's Bazar, in backyard paddy fields close to beaches.
