Field Notes

Description:

Orange upper sides with black borders. Underside of hind wing has dark marginal patch with light colored crescent.

Habitat:

Found virtually all over the United States (except the west coast), throughout Mexico, and in parts of southern Canada. This spotting, in particular, was found along a trail in the Lusk Creek Wilderness of Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois.
