Field Notes

Description:

Endemic to the southwest of Western Australia. Flower about 4cm long, and about 30cm tall. Also know as Donkey Orchid, but differs from D. corymbosa by a more purple/mauve colouration of the flowers.

Habitat:

Dry eucalypt forest of Marri and Jarrah.

Oh my, this is so amazing! So many species I've never seen before. This looks like a koala to me. A rainbow one with fully cheeks and mighty big fangs. Not unlike my profile pic ;-) Did they explain drop bears to you when you were here, Felix?
