Field Notes

Description:

This mature whitetail doe was grazing lightly on the edge cover and grass as we approached it. It was surprisingly relaxed and finally bolted as we got about 5 yards from it.

Habitat:

The doe was on the edge of a soft wood forest with some hard woods like maples or oaks mixed in here or there. She was feeding on edge cover of a forest made mostly of hemlock and birch trees.
