Field Notes

Description:

About 5 1/2" long, body a golden tan color with green patches on thorax, just behind head and middle pair of legs. Also some green on front femurs. Second and third pairs of femurs are both stocky compared to other stick insects

Habitat:

Found on building on edge of Ashe Juniper/Live Oak woodlands.

Notes:

I'm honestly not sure of the specific species for this one. I looked for about an hour to try to find a key, or some descriptions, and gave up for lack of resources (I'm not ordering the stick insect book for one photo I took a while back). I tried Bug Guide, but to be honest, I'm not sure how accurate their walking stick IDs are. I did rule out Pseudosermyle spp. because this specimen seems to have beefier thoraxes. If I'm off or anyone has a good positive ID, let me know. To be fair, I quit looking when I found a scholastic source that suggested that some listed different species were just variations on one. It's not that I can't find a match, it's that I can't verify a specific one.
