Field Notes

Description:

Hedgehog fungi. Other name for this mushroom is "sweet tooth" or "wood hedgehog". An edible mushroom and from the looks of this mushroom, something has been nibbling at it. This was a solitary mushroom that I found on the forest floor at the Pocomoke river State Park in Pocomoke City, Maryland. I identified this as a hedgehog fungi because of the spines on the underside.

Habitat:

Forest floor at Pocomoke River State Park, Pocomoke City, Maryland
