Field Notes

Description:

Shiny gold patches on wings with two small white dots, overall brown. Thorax has a large ridge with a smaller ridge behind it. About half an inch.

Habitat:

Seen on wall attracted by light.

Notes:

I've seen this moth before I just don't know what it's called.

Lafontaine and Poole state that A. precationis has a thin line around the reniform spot (a spot only partially visible, right behind/below the circular white dot), while Chrysodeixis includens doesn't have this spot. Chrysodeixis includens: http://bugguide.net/node/view/718865/bgimage
