Field Notes

Habitat:

Rural garden on the Deccan Plateau, south of Hyderabad.

Notes:

A minuscule insect that lives in our lawn. When I put my hand in the grass, dozens, if not hundreds, leap about like a small cloud of dust. I get the impression that they jump rather than fly but they really are difficult for my ageing eyes to observe clearly. I'd be interested to know what they are.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

Something similar happens in the grass in my garden. Seem leafhoppers. Simple touch the grass, a lot of small things start to jump all sides.
