Field Notes

Description:

Family: Sphingidae, Subfamily: Macroglossinae. (Small Sphinx Moths) TL: 25-30 mm. Wingspan: 50 mm. Strictly diurnal. Mostly transparent wings have jagged chestnut borders and veins. Thoarx is unifrmly light brown. Dark chestnut abdomen has yellowish segments at base. hosts: Honeysuckle, snowberry, hawthorn, cherry and plum. Adults feeds on same. Unknown weed/flower.

Habitat:

Small meadow near my house, but different location than my other clearwing spots.
