Field Notes

Description:

iconic frog of Costa Rica, couple in amplexus (mating) first 2 photos, nocturnal, large, females to 84mm

Habitat:

rainforest, gardens, adaptable as long as there are breeding pools surrounded by broad leaf plants

Notes:

Red eyed leaf frogs are fairly common at Yatama Reserve. Every night I would see at least 3 around the ponds at the common area but I never got tired of them. I would photograph them every night, leading to a lot of photos!
