Field Notes

Description:

Apparently there are numerous variations in colour and patterning in Podarcis hispanica and the similar Psammodromus hispanicus and this picture is not clear enough for me to be positive about the ID. The distribution data show both to be found in this area. I originally thought Wall Lizard but looking at pictures of the Psammodromus hispanicus that seems to have a lot less patterning on the tail and the segments stand out more, as they do in this one.
