Description:

The strawberry is a low creeping plant. Has very white flowers and a bright red fruit. Grows within kipukas and shady areas. Has compound leaves made up of three leaflets.

Habitat:

5,000-5,500 feet elevation.
Montane tropical rainforest Kīpuka.
Upper Waiakea Forest Reserve.
Lava flow in 1881.

Notes:

The picture shows the flowers and a very young fruit.
