Field Notes

Description:

Mummy Monkey picking off parasites from baby's fur. Just a moment back the baby was running wild; Mom decided some hygiene lesson was necessary.

Habitat:

Bandipur National pPrk

Notes:

As you enter Bandipur Sanctuary there is a place where you can access the washrooms to freshen up; locals sell fruits etc., and wild-life wardens are around. This area is also a free-for-all zone for the monkeys. They clamber over the parked cars, explore luggage on the carriers of vans, snatch packets and bags from the hands of tourists but TOTALLY ignore you if you are empty handed. They do not try tricks with local fruit sellers who will usually carry the packet safely to your car.
