Field Notes

Description:

Mold fossil of a brachiopod. The rock measures 64.72 mm (2.54 in) long and 53.4 mm (2.10 in) wide. The fossil measures 25.85 mm (1.01 in) long and 31.88 mm (1.25 in) wide. This shell half measures approximately 7.43 mm (.29 in) high as measured by the depth of the mold. This fossil dates to the Devonian Period (416-359.2 million years ago).

Habitat:

Rocky shore of man-made lake. Pymatuning Lake, Ahstabula County, Andover, Ohio, USA
