Field Notes

Description:

Red dragonfly.

Habitat:

Swamp.

Notes:

This picture was taken on our walk with my friends camera.
I am not sure whether this is Ceriagrion tenellum or Sympetrum depressiusculum, but I think its rather the second one, since the first one looks too me too tiny for my spotting. What do you think? Does anybody know? I know it's not the best picture, but between these two, which one would be the right ID?

will do. these dragonflies look all too similar to me to decide, though! will have to update my camera to make better pictures! now, so far i've narrowed it down to these four: Sympetrum striolatum, Sympetrum vulgatum, Sympetrum sanguineum, Sympetrum flaveolum. Hopefully I'll be able to do the right ID!
Agree with Jopy, check Sympetrum sp.
Hi, Ursula, Small red damselfly is not for sure, it has not markings on wings like this one on picture...
Can anybody help which one of these two do you think it's the right species: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Red_Damselfly or http://www.dragonflypix.com/speciespages/sympetrum_depressiusculum.html ?
