Young banana slugs just don't have that color or that shape! I live smack dab in the center of their most populated range. I was thinking leech or flatworm myself
Please, give us some more information about the spotting. Where did you found that? On the ground, on a tree/leaf, was there water or a pond nearby? Looks for me more like a worm than a snail. Could it be a flatworm (platyhelminthes)? I know some Canary worms from Australia (Turbellaria):

I'm gonna say that it is a Banana slug that maybe traveled in a shipment to Panama!
Wow...I thought Banana Slug too, didn't know they were restricted to the Pacific Northwest! Could it have traveled in a shipment of something and gotten displaced?
