Field Notes

Description:

This Tiger moth is known as a Yellow Wooly Bear in the caterpillar stage. As an adult it is completely white, but often with a small black spot on each wing. It is separated from other smallish white moths in that its front feet are striped black and white.

Habitat:

This Tiger moth was found on the front door under the porch light in a residential area of a city.

Notes:

2024 National Moth Week - I normally enjoy the various colors over those that are single colored, but there’s something about a pure white critter in nature that is impressive.
