Description:

From far it looks black. But it isn't. When the light catches it at the correct angle it is almost indigo in colour. The tail extensions look splendid in flight especially in silhouette at dusk (like I saw it a while later) against the rising full moon. has a prominent tuft of feathers just above the beak.

Habitat:

Coffee plantation. On shade tree.

No I haven't been there yet. It's probably one of the hottest hotspots for wildlife in India though so one day...

Hi Mark, No visited Coorg just to relax...ended up chasing elusive birds; heard hundreds...could see maybe five and shoot just one :( So now more tired than when I went. This trip was actually planned in 2018 but massive landslides etc....made us cancel. have you been here? First visit for me.
