Thanks for the clarification, bayucca. I thought I had read that this species was found in India. I should just stick to genus in my suggestions. :-)
It is an Amata sp. but not Amata phegea which is not found in India. And Phegea should not have white legs. I can't really tell you which Amata yours actually is, many species are around and many with a wrong ID. I think yours is Amata cyssea, but you have to verify it!! http://indiabiodiversity.org/observation/show/273599 Confirmed ID! http://www.indianaturewatch.net/displayimage.php?id=96910, Mr. Peter, seems to be Peter Smetacek, one of the most expirienced moth expert from India. http://www.drkrishi.com/handmaiden-moth#.UfVucRBhhP4 http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7810657
You're welcome! One of the few moths I can actually ID. :-)
