Field Notes

Description:

As incongruous as it may seem to find this on a vertical wall, this is, I believe, a water strider (Gerridae).

Habitat:

Spotted on the exterior wall of a house in a large semi-urban yard and garden, next to a disturbed patch of remnant forest, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.

Notes:

Photographed at night with flash.
