Field Notes

Description:

A smaller frog species. Tan or brown with bronze, rectangular spots down the back and striping on the legs. The hind legs have bright yellow or orange coloration underneath. Similar to and often mistaken for the leopard frog, which has a pointed nose rather than a blunt one, and round, uneven spots instead of rectangles.

Notes:

Moved this guy out of an old wood pile so he wouldn't get burned up in our bonfire! Skin was very metallic and slightly iridescent in the sunlight.
