Description:

I think this is Caenurgina crassiuscula, but I'm not sure how to rule out C. erecheta in this case.

Species ID Suggestions

akussr, I am pretty sure the photos are identified correctly as Moth Photographers Group is one of the most reputable sources for moth identification in North America.
There's no guarantee the people who took those photos identified the species properly. I would say majority rules in this case
akussr, that's one of the reasons why I was confused. The dots are visible and not visible in both species, and they seem hard to distinguish without seeing the forewings touching each other. In some photos on Moth Photographers Group, C. erecheta lacks the faint row of spots: http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/species.php?hodges=8739
Its a C. crassiuscula, there is a very subtle difference in wing pattern between the two- C. erecheta has a very faint row of spots along the wings that C. crassiuscula and your specimen do not. If you would like, i'll upload a comparison
