Field Notes

Description:

Larvae green/brown. In the beginning will resemble bird droppings. Later on will mimic a small green snake. Will turn yellow before forming a chrysalis. Adults black with bottom of wings lined with yellow spots. Blue and orange on lower wings.

Habitat:

Abandon farm fields/meadow adjacent to swamp and hardwood forest.

Notes:

Was raised from caterpillar for education program. Released in local butterfly garden.
