Description:

Red waxy cap, Hygrocybe miniata, is less than 1 1/2 inches wide and tall. Caps are bright reddish-orange to scarlet at first, fading to orange or yellowish. They are rounded to flattened.The gills are yellow to orangish and the stem is orange-yellow.

Habitat:

Spotted at Tamarac on Hwy. 29 near a wooded area with oak trees. The soil was damp.
