Hi marta and sigg, thanks for your help both of you. I am leaning towards azalea for one main reason actually. Like you, i am also no flower expert and i'm not sure if there's a term for it besides stamen but inside the flower there is a yellowish or reddish pattern in the rhododendron. Check out this image: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Rhododendron_'Cunningham's_White'_2.JPG Whereas the azalea has none of that. Mine doesn't have that so i lean towards azalea. Thanks for the help guys much appreciated!

Hi Sigg, I am even less expert than you may be :-) So it might very well be an azalea. I hope venus will have enough tips with our suggestions. thanks! :-)

I might be wrong, but looking at the leaves and their small size in comparison to the flowers I don't think it's a Rhododendron. I'm no expert, but Azalea and Rhododendron are closely related and as I far as I understand it one of the easiest to identify differences are the leaves, which are larger and thicker on Rhododendron.
