Yet another very lovely series of such a beautiful bird!
Hi Jemma! yes, I think they are rather tame. I feel pity for them since in some northern places they still chase them for food (Iceland, Norway). I understand the tradition though since it is a common bird there and is the size of a duck so it must be tasty. But I would prefer that they were not hunted. They are wonderful to observe: how the fly, how they interact with each other and make their burrows..Shetland Islands are a very good place to see them in the months of June to September. You have to pray for good weather though, because in rainy windy weather they have trouble to land in the cliffs so they stay at the sea or in their burrows..
these birds are supposed to be good natured and very playful. That is what our guide in Alaska told us. ;Full of cuteness.The beaks look very pretty.
