Description:
The larvae are flat and elongated (alligator-like) with large jaws, which can be seen in the first two photos. They cover themselves with bits of litter, perhaps to deter predators such as lady beetles. The debris varies, including bits of lichen and vegetation, leaf trichomes (hairs), pappus (fluff) from seeds, bits of insects.
