Prairie restoration area.

Notes:

The red spot on the head was throwing me on this identification, but found out that it could be from moisture from rain that morning.

Thanks Christine and Subin for the kind words. Subin, I don't think the click beetle in the link you provided is the same species. The pronotum appears longer, and the abdomen is narrower. There also appears to be a faint pattern on the pronotum in your example.
