Field Notes

Description:

A type of eucalyptus leaf beetle. This appears to be the female, which is pinkish brown, whereas the males are brown. Both have the same markings.

Habitat:

Dry sclerophyll bushland.

Notes:

Flew straight into me. Tasmania endemic.

Welcome Lori... I find Tortoise beetles are less shy than Lady bugs... But in India mostly seen during monsoon. This year not yet find one... Might be I have to go real forests.
Hi Ashish. Thanks. They do their best to thwart me by rarely holding still once I get them in focus. One of the best things about living on an island is getting to show off all the natives. Like this little endemic beetle.
