Field Notes

Description:

I really need some help here, because this one puzzled me. It looks like an ichneumon wasp, but it has very strong rear legs. Second photo, although not very good, shows what looks like an ovipositor. Can anyone tell me something about it?

Sergio You were right - it is an ichneumonid. In general, if it is a wasp and the antenna has more than 15 segments, it is an ichneumonid or a braconid (and then you have to go to wing venation to tell them apart). If you look at the antenna in these pictures you can see that there are many small segments. The hind femur is a bit strong, but nowhere near as strong as you would see in something with a swollen hind femur (and these often have teeth on the underside). Google images of Chalcididae or Stephanidae for examples.
Sckel, acho que você está certa. Eu tenho outra foto, muito ruim, que mostra isso. Obrigado pela dica. Já "consertei" o texto.
Sergio, será que a tromba não é uma parte da perna?
