Field Notes
Description:
The Anamalai Gliding Frog is critically endangered due to habitat loss and is endemic to the Anamalai region in the Western Ghats. It has a black-marbled back and was mistaken for the Malabar Gliding Frog - Rhacophorus malabaricus for a long time. Like many moss frogs, it builds foam nests above small pools of water, into which the tadpoles drop down after hatching.
Habitat:
It is found in the lower canopy and understory of tropical moist evergreen forests.
