Field Notes

Description:

Only found in 4 places in Europe which are Finland, Norway, Russia and Sweden. They feed on insects, nuts, berries and small rodents.

Habitat:

seen on the feeding centre at the Martinselkonen lodge, Eastern Finland.

Notes:

Unfortunately these birds arrived whilst we were having breakfast so I had to take the photo through a window. This one morning was the only time we saw them.

That would be incredible, maybe in a near future.
If you check out the link on my other spotting of European brown bear cubs there is the web address for the lodge you can stay in and they feed right outside! we only went for two days but managed to see loads! :-)
That would be nice, even if unlikely! The furthest north I've been was south Sweden but they do not occur there.
Thanks, I haven't had any confirmation yet but I searched the whole site and couldn't find another spotting of it! Maybe you could save up to go next year :-)
Congrats on that, Debbie! It's a beautiful bird, too bad I don't have the money too go see it hahaha.
Thanks Pedro, it was a beauty! such a shame it was through the window though :-(. I havent found any other Siberian Jays on PN so I think it may be the first one they have!
