Habitat:
forest edge, popular on dry ridges in the wild. also an ornamental cultivar in lawns and gardens.
Notes:
While wild tree have almost always white blooms, there are color cultivars such as this one in the garden of a university. I believe this may be the "Cherokee Chief" variety.
