Field Notes

Description:

This was by far the biggest Diamondback I have ever seen, and he was also one of the grumpiest snakes I have seen of any species. Since Nerodia sp have some pretty nasty teeth and enzymes in the saliva that causes lots of bleeding, I refrained from touching this guy since he was striking at me from 2 meters away and spraying musk at me :) The body is olive, there are black blotches on the back, and the eyes are high on top of the head and red.

Habitat:

Found on the road after a rain.
