Description:
Pretty hard not to believe it is actually a caterpillar?!
This is tha larva of the Elm Sawfly, the largest north american sawfly.
The larva is yellowish-white with a black strip on the back. It curls at rest. Overwinter in cocoons.
Habitat:
City park.
Notes:
Not considered a forestry problem, but can defoliate shade/ornamental elms and willows
