Field Notes

Description:

This species is on the UK's Biodiversity Action Plan list under species of moths and butterflies that are widespread but in rapid decline: http://www.mothscount.org/uploads/UK_BAP_moth_species.pdf here's the source website: http://www.mothscount.org/text/38/uk_biodiversity_action_plan.html .Maybe 10 years ago I often saw similar looking caterpillars on similar looking plants (common ragwort?) here in the UK in my home town (see second photo of the plant it's growing on)
