Hello again Jakubko! This moth was flying around with other moth I spotted (please see attached). Is this the one called snowberry clearwing moth? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/34494082
Hyles sp. for sure. The reason why there are two l's in gallii, but not in Galium, is because the person who named this moth misspelled the genus name of one of the food plants of this moth. Fortunately, I was able to find abdominal photos of the two Hyles sp. which are found in New York. Towards the end of the abomen, I noticed three white slashes in your moth, which appears in H. gallii, but not in H. lineata. H. lineata: http://bugguide.net/node/view/142287/bgimage H. gallii: http://bugguide.net/node/view/669879/bgpage Comparing the thickness of the three abdominal slashes, these appear to be different individuals.
