Field Notes

Description:

Bark bug or flat bug.
This small bug is only about 5mm long and seems to have reduced wings.

Habitat:

found under the bark of a dead Acacia tree.

Notes:

There were many but they were found only near ground level.

I found a very detailed document with drawings of each species. There are 169 pages. On Page 41 it confirms N handschini does occur in Victoria. Therefore I am calling your ID suggestion correct. Well done.

I was working from the distribution maps also. I have no images. I agree the specimens held by West Australian Agriculture Department (that would be Perth) look identical to mine. There is not much information.

Do you have any pictures of the other species?? I did not found any, only reference maps. The match for Neuroctemus handschini is almost 100% ;-), but I agree, the range is different.
