Description:

Dime sized spider. Brown. Off white hour glass on belly.

Found in my car after fishing trip in Santee lakes, CA.

Habitat:

Car. Encinitas, CA.

The photo in the suggestion above is of a darker colored male with a white hourglass marking on the underside of the abdomen; the female of this species is the well-known black spider with the red hourglass mark. Here's the wikipedia page for the species, and it has a few more photos of different male coloration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latrodectus_hesperus The article says males are harmless to humans, just fyi!
