Field Notes

Description:

Small passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae.The Common Chaffinch's are 14-16 cm long and have large double white wing bars, white tail edges and greenish rump. The breeding male shows reddish underparts and a blue-grey cap.

Habitat:

They are common sight in woods and grasslands all over Scotland. This one was found in the Isle of Mull and was quite tame, which allowed some nice close ups.
