Field Notes

Description:

Medium-large Geometrid caterpillar. Brown with lighter markings, especially along the outer edge of the prolegs. Small white markings near spiracle A2. Pinkish tint on underside. Small orange spots next to the spiracles. Defensive position picture #1.

Habitat:

Suburban garden. Found in the Oregano at night.

Notes:

One of two individuals of similar size found in the garden. I believe these were mature caterpillars.
