Field Notes

Description:

Coenagrionidae; Agriocnemis femina (Brauer, 1868). 1st. Photo: The Damselfly, on a rice leaf, is an immature male. 2nd. Photo: This Damselfly, on weeds, is a mature male. According to Wikipedia:" mature males have a white pruinescence over their body, and a dark tail."

Habitat:

These two Damselflies were pictured about 5 meters apart, the 1st. Photo was taken at the edge of the rice field, just outside our back wall. The 2nd. Photo was taken inside our back wall, on some weeds in a neglected corner.

Notes:

What I have tried to show here, is the difference between an immature male and a mature male A. femina. When I searched through all my pictures of Damselflies, I could not find an immature and a mature male specimen in the exact same place on the same day. The first picture was taken on Sept. 20, 2016 and the second on Sept 29, 2016. Once again, I have bent the "single spotting rule" and will willingly withdraw this spotting if it is not allowed.
