Field Notes

Description:

Maximum size that I've seen is less than 1cm excluding the legs, depending on how old they are. These house spiders are very common in the Philippines, especially on urban areas. They like dark, cold, dirty or polluted areas, potentially a good environment for an easy and numerous prey, the mosquito. They are commonly known in the Philippines as "gagambang bahay", which literally translates to house spider.

Habitat:

spotted this Brown Sailor Spider on our garage

Notes:

can also be seen on fropical forest, lowland, and always in interior.

FranzKiernanBuenaflor...it was sheer chance that I had identified N. mukerjei and this one looked very similar. I look for databases like spiders of India etc., and then of course it is luck! Your photo is very clear and crisp.
thanks a lot miss SukanyaDatta! Brown Sailor Spider is a perfect match! I have no means of identifying what exact species of spider is this, and I really appreciate your help! :)
Just a guess ...it looks a lot like the N. mukerjei I spotted here in India.
