Tarantula

"Tommy" - my wife just had to name "him" when I emailed these images to her from the Amazon basin, was my roommate, off and on, for two days in #207 at Explorama Lodge. As you may be able to see in the second image, there was no roof, as such, directly over the bedroom; although the bathroom had a roof with some small screened-in areas (1' x 5' or so) near the top of it. Thus, the room was accessible to some crawling critters and those animals with wings. There was, indeed, a roof to the overall structure; but that was a thatched affair that was considerably higher than the sides and front to each room. "Tommy" was a most considerate roommate in that it/he kept its distance and clung to one wall most of the time when not in my neighbor's bedroom to which it had easy access. At night, mosquito netting provided some "security;" and, as an aside, I kept all bags zippered shut when I was not accessing them for some item. That was a habit I got into the first night when a snake was found in a room assigned to two ladies in our group (See: common liana snake, July 3, 2013). ... no need to provide any free transport!
