Field Notes

Description:

These spiders have distinctive yellow and black markings on their abdomens and a mostly white cephalothorax.

Habitat:

They are mostly found in sunny fields and build nests two to eight feet off the ground. The web can reach two feet in diameter with a dense zigzag design of silk in the center.

Notes:

When threatened the spider oscillate her web vigorously while she remains firmly attached in the center.
