Field Notes

Description:

Small cluster of short mushrooms. Cream-coloured thick stems and dirty-beige rounded caps.

I didn't want to go crashing into the bush to look at the underside, but you can see in the photo that one of the caps is broken, exposing a few short beige "frills" (Sorry, I know nothing about fungi anatomy terms!)

Habitat:

Growing out of a fallen log, a little back from a pedestrian path in a heavily-wooded urban park (Lambton Woods).

Notes:

These reminded me of the mushrooms we tend to get in grocery stores here in Ontario labelled "white mushrooms", but I have no idea if they're actually the same thing.
